RMD Notes

  • Annual Deadline: Your RMD must be withdrawn by December 31 each year.
  • First-Year Deferral: If you turn 73 this year, you have a one-time option to delay your first RMD until April 1 of next year.
  • IRS Penalty: Missing your deadline could result in a 25% penalty on any amount not withdrawn.
  • Tax Impact: RMDs are taxed as ordinary income, which may affect your tax bracket.
